Justin Isenhour grew up in Fort Mill, SC and began studying the trombone under Ron Smith and Rich Austin. His musical talents were nurtured by his school band program and his church music activities. He began pursuing a degree in music at Appalachian State University under the tutelage of Dr. Harold McKinney and received a Bachelors in Music in 2003. After completing his undergraduate degree, he attended The University of Northern Colorado as the Trombone/Euphonium Teaching Assistant and a student of Dr. Nathaniel Wickham graduating with a Masters in Music in 2005. He is also a certified level 1 Creative Motion instructor.
Justin has performed in a wide variety of genres including Classical, Jazz and Commercial music. He has performed with The Greeley Philharmonic, The South Carolina Philharmonic, The Long Bay Symphony and The Union Symphony. He regularly performs with The Union Symphony and the trombone trio, Drei-Bones.
As a teacher Mr. Isenhour teaches students of all ages. Many of his Middle and High School students perform with Region and State Honor Bands as well as Youth Orchestras and Wind Ensembles. He is currently maintaining a private studio, teaching at Springfield Middle School and directing a Jazz Band at Nation Ford High School.
Mr. Isenhour is also a published author with an article appearing in the April 2006 International Trombone Association Journal (Volume 35, Number 2) on approaching ornamentation in Johann Georg Albrechtsberger's Concerto in B-flat for Trombone (1769).
He is again residing in Fort Mill, SC with his beautiful wife, Jennifer, and their two cats.
